Welcome to the portfolio, where you can see everything I've worked on in recent years... so far it's a bit lacking, isn't it?home    blog    young lex chronicles    portfolio    about me

Pervious Work, Jobs, and Accolades

[REDACTED] Academy, March 2024
Honor Roll

Different school than the other one. I guess
you could say I'm honor roll with getting
school awards... I apologize for that one. Not
entirely sure what this means yet, but I've heard I
might get assigned extra projects next year.

"What's your reward for dealing with countless
projects and deadlines? MORE projects and
deadlines! That aughta make kids want to
do better."

[REDACTED] Online High School, March 2023
Student Of The Month

My English teacher gave me this award. I was
given a T-Shirt, a sticker, and was promised
I would get featured on their blog. Unfortunately,
the blog part never came true, but hey, at least
my parents gave me fifty bucks and dinner at
The Cheesecake Factory.

Cosmonious High, Owlchemy Labs, 2021-2022
Playtesting

My first real "job" although my only form of payment
was the joy of getting to play a new video game early.
On a daily basis, I had to play the game and report
any bugs or feedback to Owlchemy. I was not
credited outside of a general "thanks to all of our
playtesters" in the credits. Proof

Super Mario Scralaxy, Scralaxy Team, 2018-2022
Various, but mainly programming

This is just a free online fangame you play in your web
browser, but it has grown to be relatively popular (including
coverage by a YouTuber that got 600K+ views!
) so I'm
including it here. All programming was done in Scratch. My
largest contributions to the project were the implementation
of saving and widescreen. I am still technically a member
of the team but I currently have no plans to continue work
due to me outgrowing Scratch. Check it out and tell them
a 3D Goomba sent you there ;)

Games

Cat versus Laser, 2024

Platform: Web, Windows
Engine: Raylib

A game of speed. Unleash your inner kitty by
whacking a virtual laser.

Play it wherever you play web games:
Newgrounds, itch.io, GitHub

Drawings, Doodles, and Other Imagery

Content Warning Guide:
= political content
= language harsher than "hell"

Totoro, pen on paper, 2024
A Mother's Day gift for... my mother. I did a pretty
decent job matching Miyazaki's style. The Japanese
reads "Happy Mother's Day".

Akira Toriyama Tribute, Aseprite on .png file, 2024
Honestly, I wish I engaged more with Toriyama-san's work
before he passed. I played the first five minutes of Dragon
Quest, played one or two levels of Budokai, and read
the chapters of the Dragon Ball manga available for free
on Shonen Jump's website, and that was pretty much
it. Oh well, no use crying over spilt milk. Had fun with
the lighting on this piece.

Kirby says Free Palestine, Aseprite on .png file, 2024
This just made sense to me, as Kirby's helped stop several other
genocides before. This was a fun one to do, seeing as I stuck with
the old Nintendo's resolution and palette. Anyways, Netanyahu
should go and shove the IDF up his rear. Also, what kind of name
is Netanyahu? Sounds like a crummy bootleg of Net Yaroze.

Chandelier (Infinity Train), Aseprite on .png file, 2024
Obscure character from an already fairly obscure cartoon. Gave me
a chance to practice drawing human bodies. Oh, and I made him
hunky, because I was feeling self indulgent that day.

Mickey Mouse Flipping You Off, Aseprite on .png file, 2024
My contribution to the rat bastard finally going into the public domain
in January 2024. I took influence from the oft-forgotten Plane Crazy
designs. Hot diggety dog.
